On a regular basis, Google compiles a list of which science and technology and science topics are being queried the most by US users in its dedicated Search engine. Over the past 24 hours, a dinosaur egg fossil dominated the trends which otherwise concern the video game industry. Lockdown 4.0 was announced on May 17 and fresh guidelines were issued for different areas. Google has revealed that search for the term 'Lockdown 4.0' spiked by 3,150% in May. The second most searched term was 'Eid Mubarak', which increased by 2,650% during the same month. This was probably because people were searching for Eid greetings and images to share with their friends and family. Advertisement Users were also on the hunt for different zones during the Coronavirus lockdown. Interest for the query 'coronavirus lockdown zones Delhi' increased by over 1,800% in May. Queries for 'coronavirus' reduced by 50% The absence of live cricket was visible as people searched for the coronavirus five times more than cricket. Normally, cricket is usually one of the most searched topics in India. This time around it has witnessed a decline as all matches have been postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic. Advertisement The top trending term related to the coronavirus was 'vaccine' which reached a record high during the month with an increase of 190%. People turn to Google to survive the pandemic Advertisement Users have also turned to Google to ask 'how-to' questions like – 'How to make a mask', 'How to make hand sanitizer' and 'How to cut your own hair'. Even though 'coronavirus' is no longer the top trending term on Google, the drop only seems to be result of queries getting more specific about how the pandemic is affecting daily lives. Lockdown 4.0 leads search trends in May: Google - The Hindu Posted: 08 Jun 2020 02:48 AM PDT As per Google's search trends for May, the most searched term, overall, for the month was "Lockdown 4.0", which spiked +3,150%. The second top trending term during the month was "Eid Mubarak", that spiked +2,650%. Relating to coronavirus, search interest for "coronavirus lockdown zones Delhi" spiked +1,800% over the month, while"Italy coronavirus vaccine" spiked +750%, said Google. Interestingly, coronavirus dropped to 12th most searched topic, overall, during May, behind topics like meaning, news and weather — all consistently highly searched topics in India. Search interest for coronavirus was half the monthly volume for April, but still five times more searched than cricket. The top trending related topic for coronavirus is "vaccine", which increased by +190% in May. Vaccine-related searches reached a new record high during the month — the daily peak was on May 6. Also, as per Google report, the State with the highest search interest for coronavirus over May was Goa, followed by Meghalaya and Chandigarh. |
