Chances are, it's the latter of the two as this is common practice among digital marketing departments or agencies. This doesn't mean you should be strategically separated, however. A well-blended SEO and PPC strategy can be vastly superior than running both separately without cross-team collaboration. Businesses are paying over $100 per click for Google ads — how do you compare? - SmartCompany.com.au

Image
Information technology (IT) services businesses are paying in excess of $107 on average for top-of-page AdWords on Google, emerging as the most costly businesses to market online, according to new research.SEO Shark has compiled the average cost of getting an ad to appear at the top of Google for popular keyword searches across 21 industries, from retail and aged care. The results reveal some sobering realities for businesses trying to market their services in the IT industry, with average monthly search volumes of just 7,780 for popular terms such as “IT support” and “IT consulting firms”. With figures like that, it’s not surprising business owners like Nik Devidas, managing director of Rock IT, are forgoing AdWords altogether.“With low search volumes and people knowing how to run the system it naturally becomes this competitive thing,” Devidas tells SmartCompany.“It’s turned us off completely.”Rock IT has been operating since 2003, employing about 20 staff and technicians in Australia…

These Google Trends maps about what people eat during the Super Bowl are just nonsense - The Comeback

Image
Ah, the trend map. Anytime there’s major holiday or event on the horizon, here come the infographics and trend maps to let us know what everyone around the country is searching for and planning to do. Sometimes, they’re useful or interesting. Most of the time, however, they are really dumb or confusing as hell.Take, for instance, this Google Trends map showcasing “uniquely searched Super Bowl foods by state.” Supposedly the idea is that, if you were to go to a Super Bowl party this weekend in each state, this is what you might find in the spread alongside traditional dishes such as chili, pizza, nachos, and chicken wings. And according to Google Trends, we all want some rather interesting things. Mostly, it’s what you might expect. A lot of state love dip, be they seven-layer, spinach, Buffalo chicken. But then the map says that Nevada’s most likely Super Bowl dip would be “vegan cheesy bacon spinach.” And look, we’re not going to besmirch vegans here. Everyone gets to enjoy what they …

Is there a renaissance in video marketing? — Traffic Jeet 4 - North Denver News

Image
Is there a renaissance in video marketing? In early 2017 YouTube annihilated thousands of YouTube accounts. And they essentially demonetized hundreds of thousand of YouTube channels by changing the rules for running ads. Those moves crippled video marketing. Before, you could build authority channels and make a few adsense bucks to offset the costs of doing so. That ad revenue made those Youtube channels profitable— both in their own respect and as a viable, bootstrappable marketing channel.Concurrently, changes in the Google algo meant videos were displaced in search results, and Google’s own ads and the 3-pack took up more and more search real estate. It was an industry shuttering set of events.Traffic Jeet 4But is video marketing making a comeback? Can new research tools plus an evolving set of strategies make video marketing viable and, more importantly, widely accessible again? We think the answer is yes.Traffic Jeet 4 is a 6-in-one app that covers the key bases with YouTube market…

Image
If you switch over to the beta, dev, or canary channels of Google Chrome, you’re bound to stumble upon some features in testing. In its latest dev channel update, Chrome for Android is testing new omnibox features with buttons for copying the URL and sharing, as well as making some search-friendly changes. The best gifts for Android users Chrome’s omnibox is a powerful tool. It, of course, acts as the typical URL bar for typing in a new address, but it can also display live information and doubles as a Google search bar. Buried in the flags in both Chrome 73 dev and the latest Canary channel update, Google has been testing out an updated interface for the omnibox on Chrome for Android. With this update, first spotted by Android Police, Google is making it a bit easier to see the functionality that the omnibox has. That starts with search. With this change, the omnibox no longer shows the URL by default, rather leaving the text field empty and ready for either a new URL or a search term. …

Google: Do Not Put ‘Organization’ Schema Markup on Every Page - Search Engine Journal

Image
Google’s John Mueller recently addressed a question regarding the use of ‘organization’ schema markup. The question came up during the Google Webmaster Central hangout on January 22.A site owner was wondering where exactly the markup should be used.Is it best to add organization markup to the home page? The contact page? Or all pages? In response, Mueller explained that it doesn’t matter so much where the markup is used as long as it’s not on every page.Depending on the type of website, sometimes organization markup fits best on the home page.Other times it may fit in on the contact page. However, if it’s used elsewhere, it doesn’t change anything as far as Google search is concerned.Mueller stresses that organization markup should not appear on every page, which is something people like to do with review markup. Some companies may put review markup on every page in hopes that a star rating is shown for all pages in search results. That’s not a good practice, Mueller says.Mueller conferred…

Google.com on mobile web rolling out voice search in Chrome for Android - 9to5Google

Image
As the past several years have demonstrated, voice is now an important interaction method that’s increasingly natural for users. But before Assistant, Google Search has long featured voice lookup on the web, and it’s now available on the mobile version of google.com.The feature appears as a new microphone icon in the search field of google.com. Unlike on the desktop web, the icon is generic and gray instead of sporting the four Google colors. It appears both on the homepage — with Google Discover — and on every Search results page in the pill-shaped Material Theme bar.Functionality-wise, voice search on mobile is quite straightforward. Tapping the microphone opens a fullscreen interface that users can close via a top-right button. “Speak now” appears first and is followed by “Listening…” once audio is detected, with live transcription also featured.Once complete, the query is processed and your search results appear. Direct questions like “what’s the weather” will yield an accompanyin…
